Andres Christensen And Matteo Kovacic Ruled Out With Injuries: Thomas Tuchel affirmed that both the Chelsea players would be sidelined with injury issues

Although Chelsea have a sprawling squad at their disposal, one Thomas Tuchel has made perfect use of, one player who continues to remain a massive void for the club is Matteo Kovacic.

One of the most integral parts of Chelsea’s midfield, the Croatian has over the last couple of seasons emerged as a pivotal name in the club’s setup. And its been no different under Thomas Tuchel as well with Kovacic’s worldclass expertise shining through.

Kovacic Remains On The Injury Bed

While Chelsea have done extremely well to navigate the period Kovacic has been ruled out with an injury, Tuchel admitted the midfielder’s absence was a mammoth miss. Talking ahead of Chelsea’s contest with Arsenal in the Premier League, Tuchel revealed that Kovacic had yet to recover from his injury.

“Kova is a big, big loss with his ability to drive with the ball, his speed on and off the ball. He is such a positive character, a unique player and a genuine fighter. You can always rely on him in training and in the games. He has a big experience despite being still young.

“We really miss him and he is a good match with both Jorgi and N’Golo in all combinations. So yes, it was a big miss. I can’t wait until he is back in full team training. He is making some good steps and I hope he is back after our game with Arsenal,” Tuchel said.

Christensen Sidelined As Well

Adding his name to Chelsea’s injury list is defender Andreas Christensen. The defender who sustained an injury against Manchester City will be sitting the contest against Arsenal out.

The CB was responsible for City’s opening goal on the night as he committed himself to a mistimed tackle to allow City to run through on goal.

“It’s the same with Andreas. He has been crucial in our matches and we missed him for some matches around the Porto game because of a hamstring problem and now it is a tendon problem. He was crucial in a back three because he can play all three positions and he is very calm,” Tuchel said as he revealed Christensen had a tendon injury.
