Chelsea are readying a ‘monster’ offer for Juventus forward Federico Chiesa, as manager Thomas Tuchel turns his attention towards the January transfer window having booked their place in the next round of the Champions League.

The Italian international, 24, has caught the eye of elite European clubs over the last couple of years after putting in a series of impressive displays for Juventus and his national team. Bayern Munich have shown interest in the player, who starred in Italy’s Euro 2020 triumph in the summer and made the Team of the Tournament.

Along with Bayern Munich, Chelsea have been repeatedly linked with Federico Chiesa. The 24-year-old forward has registered three goals and as many assists in 15 appearances across all formats this season with Juventus eighth in Serie A. The Turin giants were soundly beaten 4-0 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League on Tuesday, although Max Allegri’s side are already through to the round of 16.

Thomas Tuchel is an admirer of Chiesa and got a chance to closely watch him during Chelsea’s both group-stage encounters against Juventus this term. And it now appears the defending European champions are weighing up an £84m move for the Italian.

Chelsea could offload Christian Pulisic; Timo Werner linked with Barcelona

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel already has an array of attacking options in Timo Werner, Mason Mount, Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic to choose from to operate behind his first-choice centre-forward Romelu Lukaku. However, there are rumours that one or two may look to leave Stamford Bridge imminently.

Christian Pulisic has asked to leave the club after becoming tired of waiting for his opportunities. The American, who arrived at Chelsea for a fee of £58m in 2019, has seen his progress being hampered due to recurrent injury problems. The forward has already missed 14 games in total this term, and when fit, he hasn’t been preferred ahead of Werner, Ziyech, Mount, Havertz and Hudson-Odoi by Tuchel.

Ahead of the January transfer window, Pulisic’s entourage have requested the Chelsea board to sanction a move with the USA international is understood to having already received a number of offers.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are keen to sign Timo Werner and have identified him as a possible alternative to Manchester City star Raheem Sterling. New Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez is scouring the market to sign players on loan without the obligation to buy due to their financial problems, with Werner especially linked with them of late.

Federico Chiesa could be a brilliant signing for the Blues

Federico Chiesa is a quick, smart and agile forward who can play anywhere across the front-line. He is an excellent dribbler with the ball, has a knack for creating space for himself and getting into promising positions in and around the box to finish off chances. Thanks to his pace and dynamism, the Italian is a scourge for defenders in counter-attacks.

The ex-Fiorentina man is also proficient in getting to the byline and providing telling crosses into the box. Thus, Tuchel would be wise to get Chiesa on board as he will definitely bring a lot of quality with and without the ball to Chelsea’s attacking unit. At 24, the Italian international still has his best years ahead, thereby, making him a brilliant long-term investment for Chelsea.
