Chelsea and Manchester United are said to be interested in signing Ousmane Dembele before Monday’s transfer deadline.
The winger has just six months remaining on his contract at the Camp Nou, and has failed to come to an agreement over a new deal, with Barcelona having instructed him in no uncertain terms that he should find a new club immediately.
While the Frenchman is of course under no obligation, and could opt to see out the remainder of his contract, Sport are report that his agent is ‘working on a departure to one of three teams’.
The report says that Chelsea and Manchester United, alongside PSG, are all keen on landing the 24-year-old, with Thomas Tuchel said to be a ‘big fan’.
The Chelsea boss worked with Dembele during the pair’s respective time at Borussia Dortmund, the forward netting 10 goals and providing 21 assists in all competitions under the German during the 2016/17 season.
Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick is also claimed to ‘like’ the player, and tried to sign him for RB Salzburg back in 2016 before he opted to join Dortmund instead.
As for PSG, the report says that they could make a move for the forward as they prepare for the seemingly inevitable departure of Kylian Mbappe, who is expected to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.
The player’s injury record will, however, be a concern to interested clubs, Dembele having been unavailable for large swathes of time due to a number of different injuries since moving to Barcelona.
However, the report doesn’t discuss whether any potential departure would be on a loan or a more permanent basis.
