With the Chinese transfer window set to close this week, Changchun Yatai have today officially announced seven signings.
Ahead of their return to the Chinese top tier after two seasons in China League One, Changchun Yatai have confirmed a flurry of new signings that were all previously rumoured.
Erik Lima and Júnior Negrão, both of whom were previously seen in Changchun Yatai gear, were officially announced by the club, confirming the strong attacking front the club will have this season.
Centre back Zhang Yu, who played alongside team captain Sun Jie during the 2020 China League One title-winning season, has officially joined the club on a permanent transfer from Beijing Guoan.
The 26-year-old Beijing native formed a strong partnership in the centre of defence last season and will have an opportunity to continue to earn first-team football, changing his shirt number from 4 to 6.
The reason for Zhang Yu’s shirt change is due to the club confirming the signing of former Danish international Jores Okore, who will provide some strong competition in defence after successful spells in his home country as well as a brief time in the English Premier League with Aston Villa.
With the need to remain in the top tier paramount, Chen Yang has brought in some veteran players on loan from Chinese Super League clubs to help bolster his squad.
Wang Peng, who has played for Cangzhou Mighty Lions (formerly Shijiazhuang Ever Bright) and Shenzhen during his professional career, joins the club on a season-long loan from Shenzhen.
The centre of midfield has been an area of need for the club for a number of years, and now it looks to be one of the strongest groups in recent memory with the likes of Dilyimit Tudi, Zhang Li, Li Guangwen and Chen Po-Liang able to line-up alongside Wang Peng.
Another loan signing for the club sees a familiar face return to the club after two seasons away; Jiang Zhe.
Jiang Zhe spent the majority of his career playing for Changchun Yatai, establishing himself as a starting-quality right back in the team after originally starting out as a central midfielder.
After two years with Chongqing, he returns on loan and will likely compete with Yan Zhiyu for the starting role, potentially reclaiming his position in the team early into the season.
Another veteran player to join Changchun Yatai is 30-year-old centre back Mao Kaiyu, who is unlikely to get much of a look in the starting line-up after spending his entire career in the second tier.
Mao played a key role with Heilongjiang Lava Spring over the past few seasons, donning the captain’s armband during the 2020 campaign, but he will be fourth or fifth in the team’s depth chart and may only get opportunities due to injuries or in the CFA Cup.
