March 11, 2022 – Major League Soccer (MLS) – Club de Foot Montreal News Release
NEW YORK, New York – Following a midweek Concacaf Champions League tie in Mexico on Wednesday night, CF Montréal will continue its regular season this Saturday against defending MLS champion New York City FC at 1pm ET at Yankee Stadium (TVA Sports, 91.9 Sports, TSN 690).
This will be the sixth match in 26 days for Wilfried Nancy’s squad as it looks to pick up its first win of the season.
Meanwhile, the MLS champions are on a continental run of their own. NYCFC defeated Comunicaciones FC of Guatemala Tuesday night by a score of 3-1 in the first leg of the club’s quarterfinal match.
Like the visitors, New York City FC will also be returning to Yankee Stadium for the first time in 2022, having played its first two Champions League home games at Banc of California Stadium and Pratt & Whitney Stadium in Hartford, Connecticut.
In two meetings last season, CF Montréal got the better of its rival once, overcoming NYCFC 2-1 at Exploria Stadium in Orlando, in July. New York avenged that result two weeks later with a 1-0 win at Red Bull Arena.
Montreal has a 2-8-4 overall record in MLS regular season play against NYCFC, having scored 12 goals and conceded 24. Forward Kei Kamara has three goals and one assist in seven games against New York, while Romell Quioto has two goals and one assist in four matches.
