Cesar Azpilicueta scored his first goal for Spain last night as he played the full match including extra time to help them beat Croatia to reach the Quarter Finals of the Euros.
After some lengthy time out of the national squad, he was finally bought back in by Luis Enrique this summer, and it has already proven to be a top decision.

Azpilicueta has now started the last two matches for his country as Enrique opted for experience and leadership, and that is exactly what the defender has given them.
Not only did he score his goal last night, he actually started the move that made it, driving out of defence with the ball. And when I was watching that in live time and celebrating him scoring his goal, I thought to myself that this man is far from deteriorating in his career as many had questioned over the last season or two, and he is actually getting better, aging like a fine wine.
He’s had another fantastic season for Chelsea, and whilst there was visible signs that his form was fading a bit in recent years, his form this season and now carrying on in the Euros for Spain, just proves that this guy is going nowhere yet and he still has so much to offer and give Chelsea not just this season, but maybe even future seasons heading forward.
The Chelsea captain has been looking more like a ‘John Terry’ type captain as the games go on, and he has really surprised me and many others with his current form, his determination, his influence he has on the pitch, and the quality he still shows when he plays.
Good on ya, Dave!
