Celtic fans are planning a minute’s applause in honour of a Scots schoolboy allegedly murdered in Glasgow.
Hoops fanatics will put their hands together on the 14th minute of Tuesday Ferencvaros clash after the tragic death of fan Justin McLaughlin at the weekend.
We told how the 14-year-old lost his life following an incident outside Glasgow’s High Street train station.
He died shortly after being rushed to the city’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital on Saturday afternoon at around 3.45pm.
An extensive investigation is under way to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and today police said they arrested 16-year-old boy in connection.
The probe is continuing and cops have urged anyone with any further information to come forward.
Heartfelt tributes have poured in for the schoolboy with an online fundraising appeal already bringing in more than £5,000.
And now fellow Celtic supporters have planned their own way to honour Justin at tomorrow’s tie.
The Celtic Feed twitter account tweeted: “Hi everyone, with the sad news breaking today with the teenage boy Justin dying, he was a big Celtic (fan) and it would mean a lot if we could get a minutes applause on the 14th minute at the Ferencvaros game on Tuesday.”
The fundraiser, launched by the family of Justin’s school friend, has a target of £5,000 and was sitting at £4,399 on Monday morning.
Stacey Everett, who started the fundraiser, described Justin as a “happy, kind and loving boy who had his whole life ahead of him”.
She wrote: “As you are all aware Stephanie and Anthony tragically lost their son Justin yesterday to tragic circumstances.
“Justin was a happy, kind and loving boy who had his whole life ahead of him but it tragically ended so soon at the young age of 14 years old.
“As he was so young there are no funeral funds in place, so please help us to give Justin the proper send off he deserves.”
“I am wanting to show my support for my son’s friend – his mum, dad, brothers and all the family at this devastating time. Whether it be used for funeral costs, financial support for the family. Any contributions however big or small will be much appreciated.
“Stephanie, Anthony, his brothers and all the family are very much in our thoughts right now. Let’s show her how much Justin was loved by his friends, family and local community.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this sad time.”
