Despite having not yet taken the reins at Celtic Park, Eddie Howe already appears to be putting together a comprehensive transfer wishlist.
The Bhoys have already been linked with a move for current Bournemouth captain Steve Cook and another one of Howe’s former charges – Joshua King – is now apparently interesting the Scottish giants according to The Scottish Sun.
Should Celtic sign Josh King?
Yes, he’s perfect.
No, move on.
The Norwegian is just the type of player that Celtic should be looking at.
King would arrive in Scotland with considerable pedigree. Currently with Everton, the 29-year-old has scored 48 goals in the Premier League, as well as a further 17 on the international stage.
Whilst he has not managed to hit those heights yet this season having not scored for Bournemouth or the Toffees following his move to Merseyside, he could certainly follow the example of the likes of Scott Sinclair and Moussa Dembele in rediscovering his scoring touch at Paradise after a lean spell in the English football pyramid.
After all, Howe has worked closely with the £9m-rated striker before, even going as far as labelling him as “massive” for the Cherries and the “complete package”.
Whilst it could be argued that the link to King is a lazy one considering the relationship with his former manager, the move actual makes a lot of sense from a financial standpoint.
With Odsonne Edouard potentially departing Celtic Park at the end of the campaign, this would leave the Bhoys looking extremely light in attacking areas.
King’s contract is running down at Everton so would be available on a free come the end of the campaign. Should he indeed rediscover his form, that would make any potential signing look like an extremely shrewd move from Celtic and Howe.
King is certainly deserving then of being included on the club’s list of potential summer arrivals.
