Celtic launch new third kit with fans dismayed at fresh bold design

Celtic launched the club’s new third kit this morning and it was met by a flurry of poor reviews from underwhelmed supporters.

Manufactured by German giants Adidas, the shirt once again features the Dafabet logo prominently, as well as a bold green and pink pinstripes motif placed over a white background, in an apparent reference to the stained glass window that used to be above the Celtic Park main entrance.

The Adidas logo is positioned centrally below the collar, but above the centrally-positioned Celtic badge, with the usual star marking the 1967 European Cup triumph above the club crest.

As you can probably imagine, it wasn’t long before the unveiling was met with first-hand responses from fans on social media, many of whom didn’t seem too impressed by what they saw.

One punter wrote on Twitter: “Jeezo Celtic I’m trying to stay positive for next season .. but this!”

Whilst another added: “I’d like to have a word with whoever decided to put the Adidas logo above the Celtic badge thank you very much.”

And a third simply concluded: “Have Adidas lost the plot?”

Plenty of other supporters compared the jersey to a tube of toothpaste, while others likened it to McDonald’s juice straws.

Celtic revealed their away strip for the forthcoming campaign last month, with Ange Postecoglou ‘s men set to be decked out in a much safer dark green jersey when playing away from home.

Their Parkhead club’s 21/22 home attire is set to be released in the coming weeks, ahead of the first competitive game of the season, against Danish cracks FC Midtjylland in the second round of Champions League qualifying on July 20.
