Celtic have completed the signing of Matt O’Riley from MK Dons in a £1.5m deal.
The 21-year-old has signed a contract that runs until 2026 and joins Ange Postecoglou’s side immediately, subject to international clearance.
O’Riley has caught the eye with seven goals and seven assists for MK Dons this season and was interesting a number of English Championship clubs but has opted to make the move to Glasgow.
The midfielder, a former England youth international, joined the Buckinghamshire club in the summer after leaving Fulham, where had come through the team’s youth academy.
He told Celtic TV: “There were other options, ones that I thought were the only ones before Celtic, and then Celtic came out of the blue, to be fair.
“I found out quite late, and then I had a phone-call with Ange. He came across really, really well and he was the one who really sold it to me.
“Obviously the club itself is massive, but just speaking to him really sorted it out for me. With the style he plays, and all that surrounds it, and him as a person, as soon as I got off the phone I was ready to come, to be honest.”
O’Riley is Celtic’s fifth signing of the January transfer window. Daizen Maeda, Shunsuke Ideguchi, Reo Hatate and Johnny Kenny have already joined the club this month.
