Casemiro saves Brazil in controversial 2-1 win over Colombia

Rio de Janeiro, Jun 23 (EFE).- A goal by Casemiro in the 100th minute gave Brazil a controversial 2-1 comeback win over Colombia at Nilton Santos Olympic Stadium in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday.

Casemiro’s header from a Neymar cross buried a Colombian game that threatened to bring about Canarinha’s first defeat on Brazilian territory in the Tite era.

The controversial recovery of the Brazilian team began in the 78th minute when Argentinian referee Nestor Pitana intervened in a play that resulted in a goal by Roberto Firmino, neutralizing winger Luis Diaz’s opening goal at 10 minutes.

Brazil tops Group B with nine points in three games, with Colombia second with four in four outings.

The fifth date of Group B will be played on Sunday: Brazil-Ecuador and Venezuela-Peru. EFE
