Celtic have beat the transfer deadline by snapping up Cameron Carter-Vickers on a season long loan deal.

The centre back becomes the club’s 12th signing of the window and the third of the day after Giorgios Giakoumakis and Jota Filipe both signed on.

Celtic will have the option to buy the American defender on a permanent deal next summer if they decide to go ahead with it.

Ange Postecoglou has just Stephen Welsh and Carl Starfelt as recognised centre backs before this with Kris Ajer joining Brentford and Christopher Jullien still injured.

But now he’s also added Carter-Vickers and the Spurs centre back said: “I am absolutely delighted to agree this move to Celtic, it is a really exciting opportunity for me and I am desperate to meet my new team-mates and get going for the season ahead.

“I know I am going to a huge club which means so much to so many people and I will be doing all I can to bring our fans the success which their support deserves.”

Carter-Vickers could make his debut for the club in the first game after the international break when they face Ross County at Celtic Park.
