Borussia Dortmund’s 1-0 win against Hoffenheim ‘a step in the right direction.’

Speaking after Borussia Dortmund’s 1-0 win against Hoffenheim on Friday evening, head coach Edin Terzić commented on the performance that put BVB top of the Bundesliga.

“We produced a very good performance especially in the first half,” said Terzić. “We knew that Hoffenheim were strong in the challenges and we wanted to ensure that they were too late into the challenges by positioning ourselves very well and making the spaces big for them.

“As a result, we created a large number of scoring chances and kept the opponent very far away from our goal. That was really good. In the second half we gave away too many balls.”

On the defensive performance, Terzić added: “We were very serious in the way we defended our goal towards the end and handled the situation professionally. That was a good step in the right direction compared to what happened 14 days ago.”

Prior to their 1-0 win against Hoffenheim, Borussia Dortmund led Werder Bremen 2-0 until the 89th but goals from Lee Buchanan, Niklas Schmidt and Oliver Burke completed a sublime comeback left Marco Reus and Co. with zero points.

Reus scored the only goal of the game against Hoffenheim.
