Speaking to Kicker, Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has confirmed that they will appeal Mats Hummels’ red card after the defender was sent off in their defeat to Ajax in the Champions League.
“We will make a clear statement to UEFA. We will show that the TV pictures prove that it was not a red card and that we therefore of the opinion that we have already been punished enough by the sending off,” said Zorc.
Hummels was sent off in the 29th minute for a foul on Antony and will be suspended for Borussia Dortmund’s crucial game against Sporting CP, unless they win their appeal.
