According to Fussball Transfers, Borussia Dortmund are launching a surprise move to sign midfielder Matteo Guendouzi from Arsenal.

Guendouzi is out of favour under Mikel Arteta, and was sent on loan to Hertha Berlin last season in order to play games away from Arsenal.

His performances in Germany now appear to have attracted interest, with no route back for him at Arsenal.

Dortmund’s interest in Arsenal man Guendouzi

It’s claimed that Dortmund have already made their first move for Guendouzi by making contact about a potential deal.

Marseille also want to sign Guendouzi, but Dortmund have more money to spend and could swoop in to hijack the Ligue 1 side.

Axel Witsel, Thomas Delaney and Mahmoud Dahoud are all entering the final year of their contracts, with Guendouzi being lined up as the future of the Arsenal midfield.

Guendouzi in demand despite Arteta stance

Arteta seemingly turned against Guendouzi last summer, and L’Equipe claimed earlier this month that their relationship is beyond repair despite the praise Guendouzi has received as a player.

Gary Neville branded Guendouzi a ‘big character’ and a ‘leader’ almost a year ago, believing that he shows great courage when he plays.

Other teams seemingly agree with Neville and now want to sign Guendouzi, including a major club like Dortmund.

Arsenal will have to hope that this doesn’t come back to bite them, as the likes fo Serge Gnabry and Donyell Malen have in recent times.
