Bishop Connolly football player named Herald News Player of the Week

FALL RIVER — Congrats to Mike Silvestro for being voted as the Herald News Player of the Week for the week of Mar. 22-28.

The Connolly running back racked up 147 yards of total offense from scrimmage, including 51 in return yards in Bishop Connolly’s win over Atlantis Charter.

He also ran for 96 yards on eight carries while scoring a pair of touchdowns.

Silvestro collected 21% (207 votes out of 1007) from the readers to take first place.

He edged out Case field hockey player Anna Michaud, who finished with 17 % (173 votes). Bishop Connolly girls soccer player Isabelle Rodriguez had 13% while Durfee football player Jason Hall finished  10% of the vote.

Every week during the season, including the upcoming Fall II season, the Herald News will ask readers to cast their votes for Player of the Week among the Greater Fall River athletes.

The poll begins on Tuesday and ends on Friday at 5 p.m.
