Bermudan midfielder Thompson joins London City Lionesses

The 23-year-old moves to Princes Park after spending recent seasons playing in the Spanish top flight, the Primera División.

Thompson could go straight into the London City Lionesses squad for their opening FA Women’s Championship fixture of the season against Liverpool at Prenton Park tomorrow. The Pride return to action at the same venue where their 2020/2021 campaign came to an end with a 2-2 draw in May.

Commenting after her move to London City Lionesses was confirmed, Thompson said “I’m so happy to be joining such an ambitious club with great values. I can’t wait to start the season and develop my game further.”

After spending her youth on the books at Chelsea, Thompson moved to Spain where she has represented Espanyol, Deportivo La Coruña and latest club Santa Teresa. The player has made 23 Spanish top flight appearances over the course of the last couple of seasons.

Thompson becomes London City Lionesses head coach Melissa Phillips’ eleventh signing of the close season. The club have also agreed new contracts with the same number of players from last season’s squad over the course of the summer.
