Ben Foster admits the Celtic fans “git in his head” by creating the best atmosphere he’s ever experienced in football.

And they had the then- Manchester United goalkeeper “cr*****g himself”.

Foster was between the sticks for United in a Champions League group game back in November 2008.

Scott McDonald put the Hoops ahead with an early lob, only for a late Ryan Giggs header to secure a deserved point for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.

Foster was in his mid-twenties at thew time so hardly a kid and was playing for the reigning European champions, but admitted the noise generated by the home fans inside Celtic Park completely put him off his game.

And the experienced stopper hasn’t experienced anything like it since.

He told the Fozcast: “I played in a Celtic-Man U game up at Celtic in the Champions League.

“We drew the game 1-1 and I definitely should have saved the goal!

“But the atmosphere at Celtic Park…I have to say it’s the best atmosphere I’ve ever played in in my life.

“It got in my head like you would not believe. Honestly, I was cr*****g myself. All the way through the game.

“I think I was about 25 or 26 but it got in my head like you wouldn’t believe. The noise was nothing like I’d ever heard before.

“Honestly, when they’re attacking, their fans suck the ball into the goal”
