Reading have completed the signing of Belgian international forward Justine Vanhaevermaet on a two-year deal according to reports on the club’s official website.
The 29-year-old joins The Royals from Norwegian top flight club LSK Kvinner where she has enjoyed a brief spell.
Vanhaevermaet has made 10 appearances for the Belgian national side at senior level while she was previously a regular goalscorer for her country in her youth.
The forward started her senior career in her homeland with Waasland-Beveren Sinaai Girls where she spent four years. Vanhaevermaet then had two spells with Anderlecht, either side of a three-year stay at Lierse. In 2018, Vanhaevermaet got her first taste of football outside of Belgium when she joined German side SC Sand. The striker soon moved to Norway where she linked up with Røa IL before joining latest club LSK Kvinner last year.
Vanhaevermaet becomes Reading manager Kelly Chambers’ sixth signing of the summer transfer window so far. She is the third attacking player to join The Royals following the recent additions of Natasha Dowie and Deanne Rose.
Chambers may not be finished in the transfer window just yet. The Royals recently lost the services of influential midfielders Jess Fishlock and Angharad James and with just Chloe Peplow coming in so far, the club still seem light in that area. There is also the matter of recruiting another goalkeeper with last season’s back-up Erin Nayler having moved on.
