Bechem United have been prevented from putting pressure on Asante Kotoko after they failed to beat Accra Hearts of Oak.

The Phobians who travelled from Accra to face the Hunters at Nana Fosu Gyabour Park at Bechem earned a point. The game ended 1-1 after full time. Emmanuel Owusu scored for Bechem on the 31st minute. Hearts registered their equalizer through Suraj Seidu getting to the end of the first half.

The match was tightly contested as both sides created dangerous chances but failed to convert into goals.

Both sides would have increased their respective chances of closing up on league leaders Kotoko but shared the spoils.

Before today’s encounter, Bechem United had 46 points at second place with Hearts of Oak positioned at third place with 43 points. Meanwhile, Kotoko leads the log with 55 points.

The Hunters of Bechem still maintain their second position but with 47 points and Hearts adds a point to move to 44 points. Both have two matches to spare before the league ends.

Asante Kotoko play host to Aduana FC at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, May 8th, 2022. A win will see them clinching the league title with two matches to spare. That would open a 11 point gap between them and Bechem who sit at second position.

If that happens, Bechem and Hearts will go neck to neck for the second position.
