Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has confirmed Jerome Boateng will leave the club this summer upon the expiration of his contract.
The 32-year-old will see his present deal in Bavaria come to an end in June, closing the curtain on a trophy-laden decade at the Allianz Arena, and opening the door for the 76-capped Germany international to join another club on a free transfer.
The experienced centre-back has featured 22 times for the Bavarian giants in the Bundesliga this season and recently appeared in the Champions League quarter-finals against PSG as an enforced first-half substitute for Niklas Sule.

Salihamidzic confirmed Boateng will depart this summer and that is was a mutual decision, making clear Hansi Flick was also involved in the process.
“Jerome’s contract expires in the summer. It will not be extended,” Salihamidzic told Sky ahead of Bayern’s crunch European clash with PSG.
“That was a joint decision of the club management and the coach was also involved. I explained that to Jerome and he was very understanding. He leaves through a big door – hopefully with titles.”
Since joining from Manchester City in 2011, Boateng has formed a formidable defensive bulwark in the heart of the club’s backline, collecting silverware aplenty while helping the club monopolise the Bundesliga’s much-coveted Meisterschale.

Across his decade-long stint in Bavaria, Boateng has won eight Bundesliga titles, five DFB-Pokals and collected two Champions League medals, as well as helping Germany lift the World Cup in 2014, famously partnering Mats Hummels in Die Mannschaft‘s defence as they crushed host nation Brazil 7-1 in the semi-final.
Boateng has continued to play a key role in the club’s first-team this term, following on from his starting role in the Champions League final last season, in which Flick’s all-conquering side kept a lid on Neymar and Co to lift ‘Big Ears’ in Portugal.
As it stands, the club are firmly on course to win another domestic league title, with Bayern currently boasting a seven-point cushion ahead of closest challengers RB Leipzig, whom they professionally saw off 1-0 at the weekend.
