Let’s get the top out of the way first.

Valley Christian didn’t budge after losing to Serra by a touchdown Friday. The Warriors remain fourth in the Bay Area News Group Top 25, behind No. 1 De La Salle, No. 2 Pittsburg and No. 3 Serra.

The biggest leaper this week was Menlo-Atherton, which was clearly too low last week.

The Bears jumped from 20th to 15th after a convincing win over the previous No. 13, Half Moon Bay, which dropped five spots to No 18.

St. Francis, which held off San Benito in its opener Saturday, moved up two spots, to 10th.

Los Gatos and Wilcox of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League’s De Anza Division made notable jumps after impressive season-opening victories. Los Gatos routed Milpitas. Wilcox roared past Palo Alto.

Los Gatos climbed from 15th to 11th, Wilcox from 16th to 13th.

Acalanes, which won a nail-biter last weekend over Las Lomas, is up to 17th. The Dons were not ranked preseason.

Oak Grove went from 25th to 22nd after its 45-0 victory over Overfelt.

There are three newcomers this week: Sacred Heart Prep, James Logan and Livermore.
