A fresh insight into the summer transfer plans of Spanish giants FC Barcelona has been provided on Monday.

The info surrounds the imminent efforts of the Blaugrana to reinforce the club’s ranks in the middle of the park.

Despite the likes of Frenkie de Jong, Sergio Busquets and Pedri having been added to by the breakthrough talents of both Nico and Gavi over the campaign to date, those in a position of power at the Camp Nou evidently remain of the opinion that Xavi’s midfield options remain insufficient.

In turn, as per Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, one individual has been identified as the ideal solution to the club’s concerns.

The player in question? Franck Kessie.

It is understood that Kessie, a key cog in the AC Milan machine, is the midfielder closest to adding to Barcelona’s engine room ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

This comes after an ‘acceleration’ in the Catalan giants’ efforts to bring the Ivorian international, ahead of the expiration of his contract at the San Siro in the summer.

Barca, on Monday, are understood to have tabled a considerable offer worth €6.5 million-per-year to the 25-year-old, a proposal which Milan themselves have been made aware of.

The ball, in turn, is now in Kessie’s court, albeit with a move to the Camp Nou, as things stand, looking increasingly likely.

Dembele amongst the goals

Word of Barcelona’s fresh efforts to land Kessie of course come on the back of the club’s current crop of stars thoroughly impressing once more on Sunday night.

On the back of a pair of impressive wins over Valencia and Napoli, the Blaugrana welcomed Athletic Club to Catalunya just shy of 24 hours ago.

And, when all was said and done, the upturn in form being enjoyed by Xavi’s troops only continued, as goals from all of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ousmane Dembele, Luuk de Jong and Memphis Depay guided the club to a head-turning 4-0 triumph.
