Barcelona backed to beat Real Madrid to the LaLiga title

Former Barcelona and Brazil star Ronaldinho is confident the Catalan club can pip rivals Real Madrid to the LaLiga title this season.

Barcelona had a poor start to the current campaign under Ronald Koeman, slipping to ninth spot in October 2021.

The appointment of former midfielder Xavi Hernandez and the arrival of a number of key players during the January transfer window has however reinvigorated the team, with many backing them to push Madrid all the way.

Ronaldinho, who had a successful stint with the Blaugrana has voiced a similar opinion.

“We are excited that Barca play well again and I think anything is possible,” the Brazilian told Mundo Deportivo.

“I hope so and as a fan, I am hoping that things go well and I think there can be [a comeback].”

The 42-year-old, who won two league titles and the Champions League with Barca, went on to praise his former teammate for the work he has done with the team.

“Xavi has returned and has brought us hope,” he added. “As my friend and ex-team-mate, this excites people and me too.

“When he played, he already had a vision of the game as a coach.

“He guided the game and I see it very well [in his coaching] too because he makes us want to watch Barca games again.”

Barca are unbeaten in their last 14 La Liga matches and saw off Sevilla 1-0 last time out to move up to second. They will be in action on Sunday away to Levante.
