Atletico Madrid and Man City scrap continues in tunnel as Stefan Savic pursues Jack Grealish after pulling his hair and Sime Vrsalkjo rages after bad-tempered Champions League clash

There were more ugly scenes in the aftermath of Man City’s tie against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

In a heated contest in the Wanda Metropolitano, Pep Guardiola’s side held on for a goalless draw to book their place in the last four of the competition with a 1-0 win on aggregate.

But the talking point of the match will no doubt be a mass brawl in the dying moments as Diego Simeone and his men lost their rag.

Felipe was given a second yellow card for a kick on Phil Foden, swiping at the Man City forward after a big challenge, and Stefan Savic sparked an altercation between both set of players by trying to drag the Englishman off the pitch, before headbutting Raheem Sterling.

Even the substitutes got involved, including Jack Grealish, who had his hair pulled in a clash with the former City defender – who escaped with a yellow card.

The former Aston Villa captain also appeared to swear at him, saying: “Oi, you’re a c***”.

Then, things spilled over into the tunnel at full-time as the centre-back was seen pursuing Grealish.

The England man could be seen exchanging words with Savic, who was shouting in his direction.

There would be further drama as an animated Sime Vrsalkjo appeared to throw an object at the City players, while BT Sport reported that police had to intervene.

Speaking on BT Sport, after seeing the footage, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand gave his thoughts on the situation, while ex-City man Joleon Lescott said the reaction was ‘fake’.

“From what we’ve seen here, this is handbags, I think I’ve never been in a tunnel where it’s been like this,” Ferdinand said.

“It either goes off, or nothing happens.”

Lescott added: “There’s no real intent to fight, I wouldn’t even say handbags, its a fake reaction to the result.”
