The first leg of Arsenal’s UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final tie against German club VfL Wolfsburg will be staged at The Emirates Stadium according to reports on The Gunners’ official website.
The Gunners usually play their home fixtures at the LV Bet Stadium in Boreham Wood but the club have opted to switch the tie to The Emirates Stadium, a move which should result in the game attracting a much larger crowd.
The two sides are set to meet in North London on Wednesday 23 March 2022 before Arsenal travel to Germany for the second leg eight days’ later. Arsenal’s Emirates appearance will be their fourth this year with The Gunners having already faced Chelsea twice and FC Barcelona at the venue. The Gunners will also stage their home Barclays FA Women’s Super League North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur at The Emirates Stadium just three or four days after the VfL Wolfsburg game.
The away leg of Arsenal’s UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final tie will also be played at a bigger venue. VfL Wolfsburg announced the decision to move the tie from their AOK Stadion home to the men’s stadium, the Volkswagen Arena, at the weekend.
Arsenal are the only English team remaining in this season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League with Manchester City and Chelsea having already been eliminated.
