With a number of first team players unavailable for varying reasons and a humiliating FA Cup exit at the hands of Nottingham Forest, Mikel Arteta will be urging Arsenal to go out and make transfers to continue their momentum in the Premier League – now the only competition they are competing in this season.
One name being touted as a major ‘get’ and a ‘bargain’ is Borussia Monchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria. The competitive midfielder could be available for as little as £6million due to the 25-year-old Swiss international’s contract being up at the end of the season.
Tipped for a huge move to one of Europe’s elite, injury and form has lessened his stock and it now appears Zakaria is under the radar and the right move could re-spark the form that the likes of Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Man City saw in him just a year ago.
The Express claim that Roma are keen right now and will push to sign Denis Zakaria this month, instead of waiting until the end of the season.
Ainsley Maintland-Niles has left the club on-loan, Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny are at the African Cup of Nations and Granit Xhaka is currently unavailable – midfield looks an issue for the Gunners.
