Arsenal tipped for double Norwich swoop as Aarons identified as Hector Bellerin replacement

Arsenal tipped for double Norwich swoop as Aarons identified as Hector Bellerin replacement

Speculation in the English media this weekend suggests that Arsenal have identified a new leading candidate to replace the outbound Hector Bellerin.

PSG bound?

Questions surrounding the future of long-time Gunners star Bellerin have of course taken centre stage in the media of late.

This comes for a number of reasons.

First, it was revealed by the reliable James Benge – citing sources close to the player – that Bellerin is ‘ready to part ways’ with Arsenal this summer, in search of a new challenge.

French champions PSG – who also expressed an interest in the stopper last summer – in turn, are said to be ready to reignite their pursuit.

The emergence of such claims, meanwhile, have directly coincided with Bellerin falling out of favour under Mikel Arteta.

The Arsenal boss has often opted to utilise the likes of Calum Chambers and Cedric Soares over his fellow countryman of late, as Bellerin, when handed the chance to impress, continues to come under heavy scrutiny.

Aarons eyed

As such, if, when all is said and done, Arsenal do indeed opt to move forward without their Spanish international star, reinforcements will be required.

Whilst Cedric has done an impressive job in Bellerin’s place of late, the ex-Southampton man was, at the end of the day, signed as a free agent, and is therefore unlikely to be viewed as worthy of first-choice status over the seasons ahead.

In turn, the Gunners are expected to target a player capable of filling the right side of the club’s backline for the best part of the coming decade.

And, as outlined above, this weekend, an update on such plans has been forthcoming.

The info comes courtesy of transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

According to the Italian, Arsenal are eyeing up Norwich City talent Max Aarons as a potential summer addition.

The Englishman of course enjoyed another fine campaign in 2020/21, playing a central role as the Canaries secured an immediate return to the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta and co., however, look set to face competition from north London rivals Tottenham in the race for Aarons’ signature.

If the Gunners do, in the end, move forward with a move for the young right-back, though, could it come as part of a double raid on Daniel Farke’s squad?

Canaries creator Emi Buendia has of course also been hotly tipped for an Emirates switch of late, amid suggestions that the Argentine has been identified as Arsenal’s leading summer target.
