Premier League giants Arsenal have, on Thursday, provided an update on the wellbeing of sidelined midfielder Thomas Partey.

And the news has proven of an altogether concerning nature.

Ghanaian international Partey, such an integral figure in the Gunners’ Premier League resurgence of late, was forced into a premature departure from the action on Monday night, late in Arsenal’s meeting with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Those of a Gunners persuasion, as a result, had since been left with an anxious wait to discover the extent of their midfield standout’s latest fitness issue.

And now, precisely that has been revealed.

As per an announcement across the club’s social media platforms. Partey looks set for a potentially lengthy spell on the sidelines over the weeks ahead:

‘Thomas has since received further assessments, and a subsequent scan has shown muscle damage to his right thigh.

‘We will continue to assess Thomas in the coming weeks, during which time he will also receive further specialist consultations.’

This came as the north Londoners saw their Premier League top four hopes dealt a considerable blow, courtesy of a deserved defeat at Selhurst Park.

Goals on the part of all of Jean-Philippe Mateta, Jordan Ayew and Wilfried Zaha culminated in Crystal Palace emerging on the right side of a head-turning 3-0 result, on an altogether special night for Eagles boss and Gunners icon Patrick Vieira.

Not only that, but word was too forthcoming of another major injury concern in Mikel Arteta’s ranks.

After being forced to sit out the action in south London altogether, it was subsequently revealed that defender Kieran Tierney had been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign, owing to a knee injury.
