Legendary figure Marc Overmars is looking increasingly likely to return to the Premier League, but with Newcastle United as their new director of football.
Overmars holds that role with Ajax currently and a report via the Metro claims that Newcastle’s deep pocket owners are desperate to land the Dutchman as one of the key top figures to lead the overhaul.
Arsenal had previously been linked to bringing back Overmars, but the role he would want is currently held by Richard Garlick, who only agreed to join back in January.
With 100 Premier League appearances, 25 goals and a league title during his stint at the Gunners, the Dutchman will forever be a legend at the club.
The report interestingly enough says that if Overmars does decide to swap Amsterdam for Newcastle, then he will be recommending the appointment of Ajax’s highly-sought after manager Erik ten Hag.
