Arsenal contract rebel Alexandre Lacazette ‘is in discussions with former club Lyon’ over free summer transfer move

ALEXANDRE LACAZETTE has reportedly started ‘discussions with Lyon’ over a return this summer.

Arsenal forked out £52 million to the LIgue 1 club for the striker back in 2017.

Now he looks set to walk away from the Emirates for nothing after failing to agree to an extension.

The 30-year-old will become a free agent in June and football.london states he has already begun discussing personal terms with Lyon regarding a transfer.

They state Lacazette is ‘currently in discussions with several European teams’ – but Lyon ‘remain the frontrunners’ in the chase to sign him.

Their president Jean-Michel Aulas recently confirmed their interest in bringing him back.

He declared: “We will do our best to sign Lacazette in June.

“We will make every effort possible for his return to Lyon.”

Aulas was backed up by Lyon’s sporting director Vincent Ponsot, who added: “Yes, we are in contact with Lacazette and yes, it is true that we are interested in him.

“We’ve always remained in contact with him.”

Laczette, who scored 129 goals in 275 games for Lyon, has since scored 70 goals in 192 games for the Gunners.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is also set to lose Eddie Nketiah, whose deal is also running out at the end of the season.

This comes after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang joined Barcelona for free on Monday’s transfer deadline day.
