Argentina will host Bolivia in their World Cup Qualifying encounter after the suspension of their match with Brazil last week.
Lionel Messi & co., sitting second in their group with 15 points, haven’t been defeated yet, with four wins and three draws, while their opponents remain in ninth position after losing to Uruguay on Sunday.
Lionel Scaloni’s men played this summer’s Copa America after winning 12 points from their opening six qualifying games. After beating Colombia in the semi-finals they met their archrivals Brazil in the final, defeating them thanks to Ángel Di Maria’s early opener to see out a 1-0 win and earn their 15th continental title.
Argentina want to put pressure on Brazil with another win
After their success, Argentina proved too strong for Venezuela (1-3) and they were able to play less than 10 minutes against Brazil last Sunday before the game was brought to an abrupt end due to an issue regarding quarantining for several Argentinian players, with the match suspended in the aftermath.
Meanwhile, Bolivia have been at the bottom of the qualifying group throughout the campaign after conceding five goals against Brazil in the opening game and a 2-1 defeat to Argentina.
Later on they managed to earn draws against Paraguay and Chile and a 3-1 victory over Venezuela, but they were not able to win in any of their last seven matches.
With only the top four sides earning automatic passage to the World Cup and the fifth-placed nation progressing to a playoff, Bolivia desperately need to start winning points if they want to stand a chance to qualify.
