Anthony Martial criticised by Sevilla boss after his debut

Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui has criticized Manchester United loanee Anthony Martial following his debut for the Laliga club on Saturday.

Martial who started the game as they were held to a goalless draw by Osasuna was withdrawn in the 77th minute with his coach saying that the Frenchman had to give more.

“Anthony has to give us much more. It was his first game and adaptation is not easy, he has played little this year and he has to get into dynamics and gain minutes and confidence,” the coach said after the game.

Martial made just two Premier League starts for United this season before joining Sevilla on loan, scoring once. The Frenchman has struggled for minutes and goals in club football over the last 18 months, finding the back of the net just eight times in all competitions.

The draw was a huge dent to Sevilla who are trying all they can to close the gap between them and leaders Real Madrid. They are now six points below Madrid who beat Granada on Sunday night.
