“Along with everyone involved, I thought about what would be best for my development,” said Knauff. “In my opinion this is a good move and the right one. I hope the move will give me a chance to earn more playing time than I did in Dortmund. I’ll obviously have to put my foot down every day to achieve that.”

On his start to life in Frankfurt..

“I feel well looked after and very happy. I’ve really enjoyed my first few games. I got some minutes under my belt for the first time and had my first opportunities. I’m getting more used to the team and system as time goes by.”

His abilities..

“I’m definitely not where I want to be, football wise. I have my strengths but I also have certain weaknesses. Above all, I need to work on my defensive positioning.”

His aims with Eintracht..

“I think the team is very good and I firmly believe we’ll be challenging for the European places.”
