Abraham ‘reluctant’ to join Roma as he hopes to make Arsenal move

Tammy Abraham is reportedly ‘reluctant’ to join Roma from Chelsea, as the forward harbours hopes of a move to Arsenal.

Roma have agreed a £34m deal with Chelsea for the England international, who is keen to leave in search of regular first-team football after finding himself ostracised under Thomas Tuchel last season.

Jose Mourinho is keen to sign the forward as he looks to bolster his attacking options at the Stadio Olimpico, though Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that Abraham is ‘reluctant’ to make the move to Italy.

Arsenal have been linked with the 23-year-old this summer and Abraham’s preference is believed to be remaining in the Premier League and his native London.

Abraham was a boyhood fan of the north London side and would relish the opportunity to cross the capital in search of more regular opportunities.

The Gunners’ interest is understood to be dependent on their ability to offload one of their senior striking options, with both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah linked with an exit after entering the final year of their respective contracts at the Emirates.

Roma will now look to persuade the player of their project however, as the capital club seek a replacement for Edin Dzeko, who is set for a move to Inter Milan as a replacement for Chelsea-bound Romelu Lukaku.

Abraham finished as Chelsea’s joint-leading scorer in all competitions last season but featured sporadically following Tuchel’s appointment as head coach in January, whilst the forward was left out of the club’s squad for the Champions League final despite being fully fit.

West Ham have also been linked.
