Arsenal lost 4-0 away at Liverpool on Saturday evening – and the team selection may just point to Eddie Nketiah being finished at the club.
Arsenal frustrated Liverpool in the first half before Sadio Mane opened the scoring, and everything fell apart after the break.
Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah and Takumi Minamino all struck to give Liverpool a thumping win in the second half.
This result shows that Arsenal still have quite a way to go and more ins and outs will be needed in upcoming transfer windows.
One player who seems destined for the exit, especially after Saturday, is striker Nketiah.
Nketiah hasn’t played in a single Premier League game this season. The only time he has even been on the bench for a league game was against Watford before the international break.
That inclusion looked to give Nketiah a glimmer of hope, even if he didn’t get on the pitch.
Yet with the Daily Mail claiming that Nketiah told Arteta over the international break that he will be leaving in 2022, it looks like the striker is done.
Arteta immediately dropped Nketiah from his squad for the Liverpool game, a clear change from the Watford clash.
With Nketiah’s contract up at the end of the season, his departure appears to be drawing closer and closer.
Having seemingly told Arteta of his plans to go, Nketiah now finds himself out of the squad again.
Arteta may feel that there is no point giving chances to a player who clearly wants to leave Arsenal, hence leaving Nketiah out completely against Arsenal.
It looks like a January exit is very plausible for Nketiah, as sitting in the stands at Arsenal just isn’t good enough for him and there now appears to be no way back.
