Old Georgians can clinch their maiden Men’s Hockey League title this weekend with a win at Hampstead & Westminster if Wimbledon lose at home to Holcombe. Reigning champions Surbiton will see their defence end with an Old Georgians victory at Paddington Recreation Ground where Old Georgians won 5-0 in November and also beat Hampstead 3-1 at home in February. Hampstead are battling with Surbiton and Wimbledon for second place.
Wimbledon lost 1-0 at Holcombe in February but had won 2-1 in their third match of the season in October. Holcombe will need to rebound from last week’s 8-2 loss at Old Georgians after a morale boosting 3-0 home win over Surbiton the previous week.
Surbiton host East Grinstead for the first time this season, having won 6-1 and 2-1 on their two visits to West Sussex. A defeat for the visitors will see East Grinstead confirmed as finishing in sixth place.
In the Bottom 5 the University of Exeter will want to keep their faint hopes of avoiding relegation intact with a home win over the University of Durham. The teams drew 3-3 in Devon in Phase One, but Exeter beat Durham 9-0 on their own pitch when the teams met a fortnight ago.
Beeston are at home to Brooklands Manchester University and after two draws at Brooklands (2-2 and 3-3) earlier this season will want to secure their top flight status with a home win.
