The independent disciplinary committee of the KNHB has suspended Mirco Pruyser, captain and striker of Amsterdam, for his club’s second play-off game against Pinoké, which will be played on Saturday. Pruyser has been suspended due to ‘an incident’ during the first play-off match between the two teams last Sunday in the Wagener Stadium.
The KNHB has just announced this on knhb.nl. The hockey association says that an accelerated appeal procedure has been followed, ‘because suspensions during the play-offs are immediately implemented’. That appeal procedure has now also been completed with the conclusion that Pruyser has been suspended for one game. The suspension is irrevocable.
The KNHB message does not discuss ‘the incident’. In the final phase of the first play-off game, Pruyser was involved in the commotion that arose after the striker scored the 3-2 in the final seconds. Referee Van ‘t Hek, however, rejected the goal, after which a disturbance arose in the circle during the loaded Bosderby. Pruyser clearly had a scuffle with keeper Hidde Brink of Pinoké, but it is unclear whether he was penalized for this.
Shoot-outs
After the run-up, referee Van ‘t Hek gave the players Jannis van Hattum, captain of Pinoké, and Pruyser yellow. The referee gave the reason for the card because of the misbehavior of both teams. Pruyser also used a shoot-out for his team after the game had ended in 2-2. That was not enough to help Amsterdam to the win.
Due to the victory via shoot-outs, Pinoké has enough victory on Saturday (starting at 4 PM) to qualify for the final for the national championship in the Men’s Tulip Hoofdklasse. If Amsterdam wins against Pinoké on Saturday, a third game will take place on Sunday. Pruyser is allowed to participate again in that competition.
