An exceptional finish from Canadian Blake Broszus, who competed in his home town of San Jose at the World Cup in junior men’s foil.
Broszus earned a bye through to the table of 32, where he faced Finn Hossfeld of the United States. Broszus was victorious over Hossfeld, winning 15-11. Next, Broszus faced Andrew Machovec, also from the United States, in the table of 16. Unfortunately, Broszus was defeated in a very close bout of 15-13, and finished the competition in 12th place.
Next weekend, lots of international action for Canadian fencers in Bratislava (JWE), Bochum (JWF), Leszno (JMF), Dormagen (JWS) and Belgrade (JME). We hope to see lots of individual bests and some great team finishes!
