Top 10 FPL Hauls from 2021/22 FPL Season

The 2021/22 FPL Season saw some mega hauls by players in a lot of gameweeks, the season was hampered by Covid during Nov-Dec which meant a lot of double gameweeks in the second half of the season. The increase in double gameweeks meant a lot of 25+ point hauls this season, yet the record of 32 points in a gameweek set by Rooney wasn’t broken, Although a few players did come close. In this blog let’s take a look at the top 10 FPL hauls both in single and double gameweeks from the 2021/22 FPL Season.

Top 10 FPL point hauls of the season

1. Kevin De Bruyne, 30 points

DGW36 vs Newcastle(H), Wolves(A)

Points split: 6 points(3 points for assist, 2 points for 90 mins played, 1 for Clean sheet, 1 bonus, and -1 for yellow card) in the Newcastle game with just one assist(Man City won 5-0, and he played the full 90). 24 points(20 points for goals, 3 bonus, -1 for yellow, 2 points for 90 mins played) in the Wolves game with four goals in a 5-1 win, played all 90 but got a yellow).

KDB had a stellar double gameweek scoring 30 points after scoring 4 goals and getting an assist across two games in DGW36. Although 30 points looks to be a huge haul, KDB could have had more, he hit the post against Wolves and was denied a fifth goal(Would have been the second City player to score five goals after Aguero), KDB also missed out on few more assists with his teammates hitting the post and squandering goal-scoring opportunities from his chances. His yellow in the first game put him out of the bonus points as well and he got another yellow vs Wolves which reduced his points tally by -1.

Popular FPL manager on Twitter, Andy Martin (FPL Tactician) triple captained him!

Fun Fact: Both of KDB’s yellow cards in the season came in this gameweek!

2. Matty Cash, 29 points

Matty cash 29 points vs Southampton and Leeds in FPL DGW28

DGW28 vs Southampton(H), Leeds(A)

Matty Cash registered the second-biggest haul of the season in Aston Villa’s double gameweek vs Southampton and Leeds. Cash registered an assist in the first game of DGW28 vs Saints and got two bonus and a clean sheet for 11 points(4 for CS, 2 for mins played, 3 for assist, and 2 bonus). In the second game vs Leeds, Cash scored a goal, registered an assist, and also kept a CS for a whopping 18 points haul.

His 29 point haul is the highest ever registered by a defender in an FPL gameweek, bettering the record of 27 points held by John Stones(20/21 vs Palace, Aston Villa) Riise(2004/05 vs WBA) and Steve Watson(2003/04 vs Leeds). Read more on those iconic Riise, Watson hauls!

Fellow Villa defender, Chambers registered 20 points in the same gameweek!

3. Raheem Sterling 28 points

Sterling 28 points haul in FPL DGW36 vs Wolves and Newcastle

DGW36 vs Newcastle(H), Wolves(A)

Raheem Sterling was a popular choice in GW35 against Leeds but ended up blanking in a 4-0 win, however, Raz bounced back in style scoring 28 points in GW36. His haul might have been out shadowed by KDB who hit 30 points in the same gameweek(Mentioned above) but 28 points is still a huge haul. The 28 points came from 16 points in the first game vs Newcastle(2 goal, 16 points) and 12 points vs Wolves(1 goal, 1 assist, 12 points). Sterling could have had more had he not squandered a few more chances in the Wolves game.

4. Mo Salah 28 points

Salah 28 points haul in FPL DGW26 vs Norwich and Leeds

DGW26 vs Norwich(H), Leeds(A)

Mo Salah was a popular triple captain choice before GW26 and he returned the faith of managers with a monster 28 points haul, falling one shot of his highest Gameweek points record of 29 points(vs Watford, 2017/18 season). His Effective Owership(EO), was an insane 264% in that gameweek which meant his haul would have given you a red arrow unless you triple captained him. The 28 points came from 10 points(One goal vs Norwich) and 18 points(2 goals, one assist vs Leeds). He was on course for three bonus but Mane scored a brace late and took home the 3 bonus, Salah ended up getting 2 bonus in the end.

Salah went on to finish the season with 265 points and was the highest-scoring FPL player in the 2021/22 season. This was also his second-best FPL season after the 303 points haul in the 2017/18 season. Salah was also the joint top scorer and got the golden boot for the season along with Son who ended up with 258 points, 2nd highest scoring player in the 2021/22 season.

6. Kai Havertz 26 points

DGW28: Burnley(A), Norwich(A)

A hero in this section of the blog, but a villan later!

Kai Havertz was not talked that much before a double in GW28 due to rotation concerns. But the young Chelsea attacker scored a brace in the first game vs Burnley and followed it up with a goal and assist in the second game vs Norwich. Totally in the seven goals that Chelsea scored in the double, Havertz was involved in 4 of them. Teammate Reece James registered an 18-point haul vs Burnley in the first game but was ruled out in the second game due to an injury. Had he played the second, it could have been surely a 25+ points haul for James.

The DGW28 dream team saw all the outfield players score more than 15 points!

7. James Maddison 25 points

James Maddison FPL GW37 25 point haul vs Watford and Chelsea

DGW37: Watford(A), Chelsea(A)

Madders and Leicester were popular FPL choices after they were eliminated from the Conference League. A lot of managers who free hitted in GW37 had James Maddison in their team and he rewarded them with a huge 25 points haul which came from 15 points(One goal, two assists) against Watford and 10 points(One goal) vs Chelsea. He was just 6.9 Million and a 25-point haul in a gameweek from a budget asset is an FPL dream.

8. Gabriel Jesus 24 points

Gabriel Jesus 24 points haul vs Watford in FPL GW34

SGW34 vs Watford(H)

A hugely unspoken asset ahead of an exciting fixture vs Watford, Jesus showed his quality scoring 4 goals and grabbing an assist in a whopping 24 points haul in a single gameweek. He was involved in all of the five goals Man City scored vs Watford and fell just one shy of Aguero’s five-goal heroics in a single game. His popularity immediately soared and he repaid the managers with another goal in the next gameweek vs Leeds. However, he didn’t score in any of the remaining three gameweek’s of the season.

9. Mo Salah 24 points

Mo Salah haul vs Man United 24 points in FPL GW24

SGW9 vs Man United(A)

Mo Salah did have one of the best performances by an opposition player at Old Trafford scoring 3 goals and getting an assist in a 5-0 win over hated rivals Man United. The haul was one of the season-defining ones during the 2021/22 FPL season.

Havertz gate

Given the history of the fixture, a lot of managers didn’t captain him and targetted the Chelsea vs Norwich game with Kai Havertz being a popular choice. Havertz blanked in a 7-0 win whereas Salah famously hauled, this is now known as Havertz Gate on FPL Twitter.

10. Mason Mount 24 points

Image

SGW9 vs Norwich(H)

With a lot of interest on Kai Havertz in GW9, it was the other Chelsea midfielder, Mason Mount who went on to haul big. Mount scored 24 points in a 7-0 win over Norwich with three goals and an assist. Mount had big returns against the weaker opposition throughout the season with 19/22 of his goal contributions coming outside the teams in the top six. Managers who went Mount over Havertz were surely the big winners and this was also one of the rare FPL gameweeks in which two mids(Salah and Mount) to have had a super huge haul.
