FPL Started in 2002/03, throughout the years we have seen some amazing performances by players and in this blog let us take a look at the FPL Dream Team each season since FPL began to see the players who dominated FPL each season. There are some legendary names, some unknown gems from promoted teams in this list.

Henry once again dominated FPL in the famous Arsenal invincible season scoring a record 30 goals, Alan Shearer finished with 185 points and to date is the only Newcastle player to finish in the FPL dream team in 21 years of FPL.

Terry was the OG FPL defender having scored 196 points from an impressive 25 Clean sheets and 3 goals. Terry went close to becoming the 1st def to score 200+ pts, but didn’t play the last two games and Chelsea didn’t keep a CS in both the games. Had he played he could have become the first defender to cross 200 points, a milestone which was broken only in 2018/19 by VVD and Robbo.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s first PL Season and he ended up as the highest scoring FPL player which coincided with Man United winning the premier league. Portsmouth are the surprise team here with two Portsmouth players, Taylor and James in the dream team, Taylor played OOP in midfield registering 8 goals and 2 assists whereas James racked up an impressive 12 CS and a lot of save points.

Another record-breaking season for Ronaldo which saw him win his first Ballon d’Or, Ronaldo scored a whopping 31 goals in one season which resulted in a 283 points FPL haul thanks to him being listed as a midfielder in FPL. Aston Villa did well that season with PL all-time appearance record holder Barry and Laursen both in the dream team.

Lescott matched Terry’s 196 points haul from an impressive eight goals and two assists along with 14 clean sheets. Another record-breaking defensive haul from back in the days.

A low-scoring dream team with no FPL Forward scoring more than 200 points(One of the two only seasons like this) and the lowest top points for a forward in a season with Anelka scoring 179 points for Chelsea.

Man United went on a 14-game consecutive Cleansheet run(PL History) which meant Vidic racked up an impressive 187 points haul that season.

Lampard had a dream 2009/10 FPL season registering his highest ever FPL haul in his career with 284 points, one more than Ronaldo from the 2007/08 season. 22 goals, 14 assists to get 36 goal contributions in 36 games avg 1 return/game. Lampard also scored a whopping 28 points in one game against Aston Villa in a 7-1 win(4 goals and an assist). The highest FPL score in a single gameweek till Salah broke it against Watford with a 29-point haul.

Lampard finished as the highest points scorer three times on the game- 2004/05(269 points), 2008/09(226 points), 2009/10(284 points). Lampard finished as the highest scoring midfielder in the FPL game 5 times since FPL began in 2002/03.

The only season in which no player scored more than 200 points and the lowest FPL dream team total ever in the history of FPL.

Luis Nani finished as the best FPL player in the 2010/11 season. He had just 9 goals, but got 14 assists to ensure that he finished on top. Nani set up his team-mate Berbatov who scored 20 goals to help Manchester United win the league that season.

The runner-up spot that season was even more surprising with Charlie Adam from Blackpool getting 192 points courtesy of 12 goals and 8 assists.

Robin Van Persie was the highlight of the 2011/12 FPL Season with the Arsenal forward reaching the magical 30 PL goals mark in a single season. A certain Gareth Bale also made the dream team for the season.

RVP scored 30 goals, 13 assists(FPL) in 38 games- 43 goal contributions in 38 games along with 45 bonus points. Remarkably he didn’t even miss a single game that season.

RVP’s first goal of the 2011/12 season came in the third game of the season against Manchester United, scoring in an embarrassing 8-2 loss, regarded as one of the most one-sided games in the Premier League. This was also the last season for Van Persie for Arsenal as he moved to rivals Man United during the summer window before the 12/13 season.

Another season dominated by Robin Van Persie this time for Man United and he won the premier league too. Over the two seasons, Van Persie scored 56 goals and never missed a game across two seasons!

Bale’s 249 points haul(21 goals, 9 assists in 33 games) is also a remarkable one as the Welsh dragon showed the world his capabilities. He moved to Real Madrid in 2013 and later returned to Spurs on loan for the 2020/21 season.

Theo Walcott had a great season too and scored a hattrick plus two assists in a 7-3 win that season for a record 26 points haul.

Luis Suarez arguably had the best season any player has had in an FPL season. 295 points from 33 games without penalties is just bonkers. He averaged 8.9 points per game which is the highest ever points per game for a player in a season(Low mins not considered).

Suarez secured 31 goals, 25 assists(FPL), 40 bonus points during the season. His 295 points haul made him the highest-scoring FPL player in a season overtaking Lampard’s 284 points from the 2009/10 season. A record which later was claimed by King Mo!

A remarkable season for strikers which saw Kane score 21 goals at just 5 Million. Hazard top-scored in FPL with a 233-point FPL campaign. Charlie Austin enjoyed a brilliant campaign too registering 176 FPL points from 18 goals and 7 assists.

A PL season that will be remembered for a long time saw Leicester City win the Premier League with Riyad Mahrez top-scoring in FPL with a 240 points haul(17 goals, 11 assists, 38 bonus points, and 240 points in total.

Mahrez started the season at a very low price of 5.5 due to just 4 goals & 5 assists in the previous season.

However, Mahrez started the season in amazing fashion smashing 5 double-digit hauls in the first 6 weeks courtesy 5 goals and 3 assists. His price rose to 6.5 by GW8. He blanked just two times between GW9 & GW17 and reached his peak price of 7.4 by GW30.

Ozil also had one of his best season as a player for Arsenal registering 19 assists just one less than the record of Henry and KDB who have had 20 PL assists in one season of the Premier League.

The first time the entire dream team defence is from one team, Chelsea. But the FPL Season was dominated by Alexis Sanchez who scored a whopping 24 goals, 11 assists, and 32 bonus points accumulating to a total of 264 points. The double gameweek 37 of the 2016/17season is particularly famous with Kane and Sanchez the popular triple captain choices, Sanchez scored 27 points but Kane bettered it with 31 points.

Mo Salah season. The only player to score more than 300 points in an FPL season. Salah started the season at only 9 Million and scored 32 goals, the most scored by a player since FPL began, and registered 12 assists averaging 8.4 points per game totaling 303 points. Salah had a double-digit haul 15 times in that season including a 29 points haul in a SINGLE game vs Watford scoring four goals and assisting the other in a 5-0 win.

Kane had a sensational season too hitting 30 goals for Spurs and totaling 217 FPL Points.

The highest FPL dream team score and the only time there are six players from the same team in the FPL dream history. Liverpool dominated FPL in 2018/19 only to agonizingly fall close to winning their first Premier League title. Salah finished as the highest-scoring player for the second season running finishing with a 259-point haul with 22 goals.

A season that was hampered by Covid saw Liverpool win their first PL title with another dominant performance. Liverpool assets ruled FPL with 5 Liverpool players in the dream team. However, it was not Salah but KDB who finished the season as the highest-scoring player having matched Henry’s record of 20 PL assists/23 FPL assists from the very first FPL season in 2002/03.

2020/21 FPL Dream Team

Harry Kane finished the season with the most goals and assists for his best FPL season of 242 points, Bruno however edged Kane by 2 points to finish as the highest-scoring FPL player in 2020/21. Stuard Dallas who played out of position as a midfielder finished as the highest-scoring defender above TAA and Robertson.

Emi Martinez meanwhile came very close to beating the record set by Brad Fridel for the most FPL points by a goalkeeper. He missed out by just one point in the end, in the last game against Chelsea, Villa and Martinez were keeping a CS but conceded a goal in the end which meant Friedel’s record from 2002/03 wasn’t bettered.

A season that saw so many blanks and doubles meant the dream team score was high but not higher than the 2332 from the 18/19 season. Salah finished top for goals and assists with Son matching Salah for goals. Salah once looked to better his 303 points record but eventually settled for a 265 points haul after missing a few games due to AFCON and his form taking a drop post AFCON.
