Field of Streams – Week 16

Streaming options to help you dominate your week

For those of you new to fantasy football, or if you are just looking for a new strategy, “Streaming” is the idea of selecting somebody from the Free Agent pool or waiver wire based on favorable matchups. This strategy is particularly effective if you failed to draft an elite player at QB, TE, or DEF.

The NFL changes quite a bit from week to week and year to year, I will try to help alleviate your concerns and focus on players that I would try and stream. Much like last year, with the potential for added roster spots (thanks, COVID) this year will be difficult to Stream. Most leagues have expanded rosters, so this year, I will be looking at only players who are available in AT/UNDER 50% of Yahoo leagues. All options may not be available in your specific league.

What a strange week it was. Nonetheless, we had Tua (QB11), Justin Fields (QB12), and Jimmy G (QB13) all turn in solid performances that wouldn’t have lost you your week. Austin Hooper was out, however, he had a replacement in Harrison Bryant finished with 8.1 fantasy points, and was the TE12 on the week. Gerald Everett’s Tuesday performance of 8 fantasy points was the TE13 and also wouldn’t have lost you the week. Another week of TWO top-10 DST Performances with the Houston Texans and Miami Dolphins finishing as the 6th and 7th best DST’s on the week respectively. Check out who’s going to get you into your Title Game!

Quarterback

Tua Tagovailoa @ NO, 46%Rostered

Tua performed admirably with a QB11 finish last week. You can’t run on the Saints so you have to move the ball through the air. Consequently, the Dolphins do that anyway as one of the more pass-heavy offenses in the league in neutral game scripts.

Justin Fields @ SEA, 26% Rostered

Fields’ first appearance in the article turned into a QB12 finish last week and now gets a matchup with Seattle. It isn’t the best matchup on paper, but I expect Fields to use his legs as a weapon more this week than he did last week. This brings a higher than normal floor for your semi-final.

Jimmy G @ TEN, 40% Rostered

Quietly one of the more consistent quarterbacks of late, Jimmy G gets a matchup with the Titans defense who gives up more through the air than they do the ground. If the running game gets stifled, watch for lots of catch and run opportunities for Deebo Samuel and George Kittle.

Tight End

Tyler Conklin vs LAR, 47% Rostered

The Rams aren’t a great matchup for any particular position, but they just gave up a top-12 performance to Gerald Everett. If Adam Thielen is out, this becomes a much more appealing streamer, but either way, I like Conklin this week.

Gerald Everett vs CHI, 38% Rostered

He’s been solid all year long, but not super explosive. This is fine because opportunity is king in fantasy football. I think Tyler Lockett returns this week, which hopefully takes attention away from Everett.

Evan Engram @ PHI, 31% Rostered

Tight Ends against the Eagles has almost been a lock this year. They’re one of the worst teams at defending the position. I don’t like the Giants’ situation at all, but the matchup is too good to ignore.

Defense/Special Teams

Los Angeles Chargers @ HOU, 49% Rostered

The Chargers can never seem to get fully healthy on defense, but they have talent at all 3 levels. The Texans don’t pose a strong challenge, so the Chargers should be able to be opportunistic in this one.

Seattle Seahawks VS CHI, 35% Rostered

I know I touted Fields as a QB streamer, but both things can be true. He’s still a rookie and prone to take sacks every now and again. Rookies make mistakes, hopefully, the Seahawks can capitalize.

Las Vegas Raiders vs DEN, 8% rostered

Anytime you get a matchup against Drew Lock, you have to exploit it. That being said, they couldn’t do it against Nick Mullins last week, so proceed with caution.

Stay tuned next week to see the results from all the players mentioned above, as well as my streamers for next week. Follow me on Twitter for more updates and insight @jjgosh
