Running through the DraftKings golf picks and PGA DFS slate for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am with plays and fades from each tier and a best lineup.
We’re heading to vaunted Pebble Beach this week for the AT&T Pebble Beeach Pro-Am. This is another 54-hole cut event that also features the Pro-Am element, three separate courses that each player will play once before a Sunday finish, and a relatively weak field that’s even weaker with Will Zalatoris testing positive for COVID-19. So the DraftKings golf picks and PGA DFS breakdown should be fun, right?
In all seriousness, this is actually a fun week to look at the DraftKings PGA DFS slate and comb through for the best values and players who the average DFS connoisseur might not be familiar with and use that to your advantage.
So with that, we’ll go through the plays and fades in each pricing tier before building a best lineup to unleash at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Let’s start with the guys we’re liking this week.
DraftKings Golf PGA DFS picks for AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am: Top Plays in Each Pricing Tier
$10,000: Daniel Berger ($10,500) – To be sure, Patrick Cantlay is my pick to win and my favorite player in this range. However, having the defending champion in good form at $700 less is hard to pass up here. Berger has been money for the past year-plus and should continue that trend this week.
$9,000: Justin Rose ($9,600) – This $9,000 range is absolutely primo this week and it’s hard to truly go wrong with the form that a lot of these guys are in. But I love Rose in this spot at the middle of the tier. He finished T-6 last week at Torrey Pines and his ball-striking has found some sauce that it’s hard to pass up. Also consider: Jason Day ($9,900), Cameron Tringale ($9,500)
$8,000: Denny McCarthy ($8,200) – McCarthy is someone who’s burned me in the past but I liked what I saw at with a T-6 at The American Express last week from him. His flat-stick remains his greatest weapon, but he’s improved striking the ball as of late and should be a nice fit at this tournament. Also consider: Lanto Griffin ($8,800), Mito Pereira ($8,300)
$7,000: Nick Taylor ($7,300) – Taylor is a recent winner at this event and the Canadian is in decent form lately with T-33 and T-30 the past two weeks. He’s one of BetSided’s Iain MacMillan’s dark horse picks to win this week and for good reason.
Based on Nick Taylor’s history at this event alone, he’s worth a sprinkle to win this week at +9000 (bet $100 to profit $9,000).
He has two top 10 finishes here, including winning the event just two years ago in 2020. We see time and time again that golfers tend to play well at the same course year after year. What makes Taylor any different?
I love that reasoning and, at the bottom-third of this range, he’s definitely worth having in your lineup with a safe floor and higher ceiling this week than in most. Also consider: Lucas Glover ($7,800), Brandt Snedeker ($7,400), Sahith Theegala ($7,200), Brandon Harkins ($7,100)
$6,000: Peter Malnati ($6,800) – Malnati was good last week with a T-25 finish and has opped decently as of late. His short game should be a nice fit for this event so, if you’re looking for someone here, this could be a nice play at the cheapest range. Also Consider: Mark Hubbard ($6,700), Brian Gay ($6,400)
DraftKings Golf PGA DFS picks for AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am: Top Fades in Each Pricing Tier
$10,000: Jordan Spieth ($10,300) – Spieth has terrific course history at Pebble Beach and this event but there is no way you can touch him with DraftKings golf picks right now. He looks lost once again, unfortunately. This is the type of player that can turn it on and burn you for fading him, but I don’t think there’s any rational thought for him to be in your lineups.
$9,000: Matt Fitzpatrick ($9,200) – Between not playing all that much (no PGA Tour starts in 2022 to this point) and just not looking like the player who was a fixture on leaderboards as of late, Fitzpatrick just doesn’t match up with the players in this range.
$8,000: Tom Hoge ($8,500) – I understand why people like Hoge — when the guy pops, he’s contending. The problem for me is that you are just as likely to see him miss a cut and burn you. The consistency isn’t there and, as such, it would be more beneficial to look elsewhere in this pricing range.
$7,000: Cameron Champ ($7,500) – Until Champ shows notable and routine improvement after he gets off the tee box, I’m fading him every chance I get. Especially on this set of courses and this tournament, I don’t like the way his game fits at all.
Best DraftKings Golf PGA DFS lineup for AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am
- Daniel Berger ($10,500)
- Justin Rose ($9,600)
- Mito Pereira ($8,300)
- Nick Taylor ($7,300)
- Sahith Theegala ($7,200)
- Brandon Harkins ($7,100)
Obviously, three of those players in this DraftKings PGA DFS lineup were my top plays in those ranges, so Berger, Rose and Taylor speak for themselves. As for Pereira, his game is just underrated right now and he should pay off that price with ease. Harkins, meanwhile, is my longshot pick to win given a combo of sneaky course history and a win last week on the Korn Ferry Tour. For Theegala, I’ll let Iain MacMillan take it away once again.
It’s not a matter of if Sahihth Theegala will become a mainstay on the PGA Tour, it’s a matter of when. I’ve already sprinkled on him a couple of times this season, but I’m going to take a few extra shot on him on the West Coast, considering he’s a California kid.
In his last three starts, he’s gone T48, T33, and T25 which means he’s trending in the right direction. If he can keep himself from having the one bad round that has stifled him in recent weeks, he’ll be in contention on Sunday.
That’s so much upside with our $7K range picks and helps me to feel confident in what this lineup could do in any tournament contest.
