Cinema brand Pathé and Amsterdam-based H20 Esports Campus announced that they established a new joint venture, Go!Gaming, to bring a new gaming concept to cinemas. According to a release, Go!Gaming will open its first venues at the 30 locations Pathé operates in the Netherlands in the fall.
Go!Gaming’s leadership was formed by its participants by appointing Pathé director of operations Bram van den Broek and H20 Esports Campus co-founder Matthijs Vink to its board.
Van den Broek explained the reasoning behind the 1896-founded cinema brand venturing into esports, which was initialized during the summer of 2021 with several small-scale gaming and esports events in Pathé cinemas, where visitors were able to bring their own consoles and play on the big cinema screens. “Go!Gaming is the perfect complement to today’s cinemas. It is important for Pathé to remain relevant for new generations and that is why we continue to innovate.”
