New Fortnite Impostors mode looks like Among Us copy

Fortnite has a new game mode and it’s suspiciously similar to Among Us.

Epic Games has delivered a load of fun LTMs in Fortnite, but this new one has players doing a double-take. Fortnite’s latest crack at social deduction games is eerily similar to Among Us, Innersloth’s multiplayer game that took the internet by storm in 2020.

The Bridge is under attack!

Will you ensure the safety and security of The Bridge… or follow Jones’ footsteps and sabotage the Imagined Order from within?

This isn’t the first time Epic Games has brought the genre to Fortnite. Previously, the developer created a deduction game in “The Spy Within.” The agents would identify spies and vote them out before the spies eliminated all other players. However, Impostors has significant similarities with Among Us. Even the agents are called the impostors.

“Work together to root out anyone masquerading as a fellow Agent, but trust nobody completely. Anyone could be an Impostor. If you find a fellow Agent’s eliminated fragment, report it,” the description reads.

How does the new Fortnite Impostor mode work?

The game mode is called Impostors, and it works precisely like Among Us except it runs in the Fortnite engine. The game features an Imagined Order of agents who are responsible for maintaining the facilities powering the bridge. While doing that, they must also keep an eye out for Impostors and any other suspicious characters.

Similar to Among Us, meetings can be triggered to vote out Impostors. The agents must complete their tasks before the Impostor sends each member to the rift. The tasks include:

  • Calibrating chests and llamas
  • Repairing the Battle Bus
  • Delivering Storm reports for analysis

Impostors cannot contribute to team tasks in Among Us, but they can blend in better in Fortnite. The mode allows Impostors to carry out similar jobs, but they must stay focused on the real target. Completing tasks will only bring the agents closer to their goals.

Here’s what Impostors can do to slow down the agents:

  • Freeze progress on assignments to buy time
  • Relocate everyone
  • For a short time, all Agents and Impostors look like Peely so that you can blend in with the crowd!

Among Us, players should find it easier to learn the nitty-gritty of Fortnite’s Impostor mode. While it has unique aspects like Impostor tasks and emotes, it has tons in common with Innersloth’s game. Party sizes are also a bit different. In Fortnite, players can queue up with any party size, with a minimum of four slots in a private party. To keep gameplay fair and fun, public voice chat is disabled in Impostors, but you can still talk in party chat.
