Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX – Summed Up in 5 Pointers

We list the new V-Strom 250 details in 5 pointers. If you have missed the action – here is a concise form of everything related to the ADV…

It was a pleasant surprise when Suzuki India suddenly launched their most affordable adventure-tourer in the form of V-Strom 250 SX in India. The V-Strom joined the Suzuki India’s current line-up of 250 offerings that consist of the Gixxer 250 naked and full faired Gixxer SF 250.

But, in the very competitive 250 cc segment where there are many options available with rival manufacturers, you must be asking – Why should you consider buying the V-Strom 250 SX??

Here are a few reasons that make the cut for us..

The Engine –

When it comes to engines, it is said that the Japanese are unrivaled. And Suzuki continues this tradition here as well. It is the same engine that powers the Gixxer 250 siblings. And having ridden this motor (even on the race-spec Gixxer 250) we say, with conviction, that should be a nice option, specially in its ADV guise.

It is a light-weight motor with pretty nice low-to-mid range grunt. It comes devoid of liquid cooling (it is oil cooled) but frankly, we believe it doesn’t require such tech that would have bumped up its price. In numbers this single churns the same 26.5 HP of power and 22.2 Nm of torque at the same rpms and is assisted by a pretty slick 6-speed transmission.

The Design –

The first look of the new ADV will tell it all. The V-Strom 250 SX is inspired from its bigger 1050 sibling. Suzuki describes this design concept as ‘Toughness in a Slender Shell’.

Resemblance with elder siblings is a nice thing to have. Just like the older siblings, the V-Strom 250 SX gets the beak design in the front, tall windscreen, prominent body panels and tall stature. However, that LED headlamp could have been better (different from the naked Gixxer)!

The Features –

This is where the Gixxer 250 SX has an edge over the competition.

The V-Strom 250 SX gets all-LED lighting, Suzuki Easy Start System, USB port (standard) and full-digital instrumentation with Bluetooth connectivity.

The instrumentation is powered by the company’s Ride Connect Edition which connects with the rider’s smartphone through Bluetooth. Then the app displays a variety of details on the instrumentation such as – Missed calls, Called ID, Phone battery level, Speed exceeding alert, Messages & WhatsApp alert, ETA updates, Last parked location etc. And yes there is the Turn-by-turn navigation as well – a pretty useful feature for Adventure Tourers.
