Battle Of 250 cc ADVs – KTM 250 Adventure Vs Benelli TRK 251

Let’s see out of 250 Adventure and TRK 251, which is a better ADV on paper…

With the entry of the TRK251 in the entry Adventure space, things have definitely gotten hotter. Let us, quickly, pit it against the KTM 250 Adventure in an on-paper spec COMPARO to see how does it fare against the established direct rival…

250 Adventure vs TRK251 – COMPARO

  1. Engine –

We can see here that the KTM 250 Adventure is slightly more powerful and has more torque than the Benelli TRK 251. However, the Fuel Capacity of the Benelli is 3.5 Liter more than the KTM. Benelli is using standard clutch configuration while the KTM is offering Slipper Clutch as standard. The KTM is clearly better than Benelli here.

The 250 Adventure clearly packs in a more powerful and torquey engine with numbers significantly higher. They also come peak at lower rpms. But adventure riding is not all about high numbers. We hope the TRK is fund to ride.

The Adventure also gets a slipper clutch but where the Benelli triumphs over is the large fuel tank capacity that is 3.5 liters higher. Along with relatively lesser numbers, this should give a fairly large range – a much needed trait in ADVs.

  1. The Chassis and Suspension Set-up –

Here again, the KTM appears to have a better suspension set-up with long travel suspension – both rear and front looking better than the Benelli and rides on better ground clearance as well. Suspension set-up is hard to comprehend right now as we have to ride to understand how these two bikes compare.

The KTM 250 Adventure is longer and taller than the Benelli TRK 251. The taller seat height will bother and deter shorter riders and they will naturally lean towards the TRK 251. However, the weight of the Benelli will bother the rider as the dry weight and hence, the gross weight will be a lot more than KTM 250 Adventure.

We can see from this comparison that the KTM 250 Adventure, though being a little expensive, is better value-for-money than the Benelli TRK 251.
