Three-time champion Michael van Gerwen recovered from losing the first set to reach round three of the PDC World Championship by beating Chas Barstow (Van Gerwen 7/2 to win the tournament).

The Dutchman struggled to take his opportunities on his doubles during the opening set, while Barstow punished him accordingly.
After losing the opening set, Van Gerwen soon found his rhythm, and he showed his class, winning six legs on the spin at one point.
He eventually secured a 3-1 victory to book his place in the next round, and the fan favourite says he must improve his game if he is to get his hands on the trophy for the fourth time.
“I’m happy with the win but not really with how I played; I have to do better in the next round, and I’ll do that,” Van Gerwen told pdctv.
“Chas played well in the beginning of the game, but I made it too hard for myself by missing too many doubles.
“It’s all about getting through the first game. It’s harder than people think, especially for the top players. I’ve done that, and I know I will feel more comfortable as the format get longer as the tournament goes on. I’ve got to improve, and I will.”
Earlier in the day, Darius Labanauskas hit the second nine-darter in 24 hours at Alexandra Palace, but it was not enough to beat Mike de Decker as he lost 3-1.
England’s Ian White set up a third-round clash with Gary Anderson after beating Chris Landman 3-1.
Fans can look forward to an action-packed day of play on Sunday, with the likes of Stephen Bunting, Fallon Sherrock and Jonny Clayton all in action.
Sherrock plays her first match of the tournament against Steve Beaton (Match odds – Sherrock 4/5, Beaton evens), while Bunting and Clayton play second-round games against Ross Smith and Keane Barry, respectively.
