MVG and VDB chase down the Asp

World number three Michael van Gerwen (15/8 Fav – Premier League Outright) and Dimitri Van den Bergh both picked up victories on Night 11 of the Premier League Darts to move level on points with table-topper Nathan Aspinall.

In the first game on Thursday night, Van den Bergh bounced back from his Night 10 defeat to overcome Aspinall 8-6 and move level on 15 points with The Asp, who remains in first on leg difference.

Van Gerwen, a five-time winner of the tournament, also moved onto 15 points after defeating Welshman Jonny Clayton 8-5, leaving the Dutchman in second place and one place ahead of Van den Bergh.

It is proving to be quite the logjam at the top of the table, with the top trio all level on points, while Portugal’s Jose de Sousa occupies fourth position on 12 points after he drew 7-7 with James Wade on Thursday.

Gary Anderson recorded a thumping 8-3 victory over fellow Scot Peter Wright, moving the Flying Scotsman above his compatriot into seventh position – just two points behind De Sousa.

With the top four qualifying for the playoffs, which take place on May 28, there is still lots to play for and another entertaining evening is expected on Night 12 this Friday.

Friday’s first match kicks off at 19:00 with Wright taking on De Sousa (Wright 12/5, Draw 7/2, De Sousa 4/5 – Match Betting), before Van Gerwen goes up against Wade in what promises to be a fantastic encounter (MVG 4/5, Draw 7/2, Wade 12/5 – Match Betting).

Scheduled for 20:40, Aspinall will be hoping to keep his place at the top of the standings when he faces Clayton, who is only outside of the top-four places on leg difference (Clayton 13/10, Draw 7/2, Aspinall 7/5 – Match Betting).

The final game of the night, set for a 21:30 starts, will see Van den Bergh take on Anderson (VDB 4/5, Draw 18/5, Anderson 12/5 – Match Betting).
