After a brief break over Christmas, the Ally Pally showpiece is back in full swing and set to run straight through to the final on January 3rd.

Van Gerwen will undoubtedly have his sights set on being involved in that final on Monday and the draw has been rather kind to the Dutchman.

He squares off against world number 30 Chris Dobey on Tuesday (Match betting – Van Gerwen 2/9, Dobey 10/3) and victory will earn him a round-four tie with either Dave Chisnall or Luke Humphries.

The Green Machine has won all eight meetings with Dobey, including two victories this year, and there’s every reason to feel he will be pushing hard for a fourth title.

Van Gerwen and Dobey are set to bring the curtain down on Tuesday’s programme but there’s plenty of action to get stuck into earlier in the day.

Lennon and King kick off proceedings (Match betting – Lennon 7/4, King 4/9) as the former looks to knock off another player with a higher world ranking.

Irishman Lennon, ranked world number 52, beat world number 12 Krzysztof Ratajski 3-1 in the previous round.

He boasts two victories from three previous meetings against world number 21 King, although the Englishman came out on top when they clashed in June.

There’s little to pick between Searle and Noppert (Match betting – Searle 8/13, Noppert 13/10) in the second tie on the schedule, while Cullen and Kleermaker close out the afternoon session (Match betting – Cullen 1/4, Kleermaker 3/1).

Cross, who is a potential quarter-final opponent for Van Gerwen, kicks off the evening session against Gurney (Match betting – Cross 4/7, Gurney 11/8) before world number two Wright takes on Heta (Match betting – Wright 3/10, Heta 12/5) in the penultimate tie of the day.
